We got the rebounder I mentioned in last week’s short post. I got on it thinking I would bounce for just the 2 minutes they said was all it took to do a complete flush of the body’s lymphatic system. Two minutes! Heck….anyone can do anything for two minutes, can’t they!?
I think I lasted 37 seconds. It seemed like 10 minutes. My calves were burning and I thought I was going to have a coronary.
Here’s what I learned…don’t just get on the dang thing and start jumping up and down like you’re 2 years old and on your parents bed.
For us seniors, there’s some good advice out there (on YouTube primarily) on how to start low and slow, and work up to those 2 minutes. Today, after 5 days, I’m up to 1 minute, 39 seconds already! And the aches and pains I got from that first day when I (over)used muscles I don’t even remember having is subsiding.
Don’t get me wrong, rebounding is safe and very good for seniors if you make sure you follow a few processes to ease into this physical activity. Going from 0 to 60 in the first session is not smart.
Stay tuned….
