It finally got me.
I haven’t been sick for almost 4 years. Last year, returning from the Panama Canal cruise, I sneezed and coughed for a few days, but it never took hold.
But I’ve been hacking for almost 2 weeks now and I can’t seem to make any progress on getting rid of this damned uncomfortable cough. I don’t feel bad. In fact, except for some rheumy eyes and a runny nose for a few days I didn’t think I was sick. Allergies, maybe, I thought. Never had a fever, never felt like I was sick. But the cough got worse.
No one with a cough dares go out in public in 2024, so I’ve been confined to home for longer than any other time I can remember. I had to cancel meetings, lunches with friends, and doctor appointments. Like I’ve said before, we live in a crazy, upside down world when you have to cancel a doctor appointment because you’re sick. But that’s what it’s come to.
I’m praying this thing ends soon. Randy’s tired of sleeping in the spare bedroom.
