I am willing to bet the farm that each and every one of us has experienced frisson. Very few know what it is though. Aren’t you glad you read this blog? You’re about to get a little education with which you can impress and amaze people, whether you know them or not, and whether they know they’re amazed or not.

Frisson is a word with french roots that literally means a brief moment of emotional excitement. It’s most commonly connected to the positive, exhilarating feeling produced when listening to a particularly moving or exciting piece of music. You know, like when you listen to the National Anthem sung by a master or Proud to Be An American by Lee Greenwod, Home Free, and a passel of American soldiers . Piloerection (goose bumps) is the physical part of frisson.

There…you learned 2 new words today.

I learned about frisson from listening to this Facebook video. Wow! Just wow!

Be sure to click on the links above so you can see if you, too, experience the thrills of the music in the videos. And, in the comments below, link a video or piece of music that gives you frisson. Or just tell us about a time when you experienced extreme piloerection. (Sorry, it’s just toooooo tempting now that I know the word.)
