Yesterday was a big day for me. The surgeon said I could immerse (swim, pool, beach) at 4 weeks post surgery–July 17. I’ve been waiting for this. Regular readers know that the water is my happy place! When I mentioned the upcoming momentous day last week to my besties at Girl’s Night Out they suggested we all go to the beach together to celebrate. We even invited our guys.
That last drain site on my chest is still a little iffy and I didn’t want to chance that flesh eating bacteria thing so I decided not to fully immerse just yet in the Gulf of America. But just getting into the water up to my waist, and digging my toes in the sand, was beyond wonderful. Being with a group of crazy, fun friends added to the joy of the day.
We ate lunch at Fins in Venice, right on the beach. Expensive, but there’s nowhere else to get a Seafoam Margarita. And what beach day is complete without a margarita?
I’m starting my pool routine again this week and it’s gonna be glorious! Just like my great-niece Syvana, pictured here in her happy place (our backyard pool in Missouri) back in 2012.
