Belongingness is right smack in the middle of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs…above food, clothing, shelter and safety, but below esteem and self-actualization.
Most people spend their whole life joining groups and organizations that share their interests and help them feel good about themselves. Sometimes the organizations even help them “leave a legacy.” Which usually means people remember you even after you’re long dead.
It’s especially in vogue these days to be part of a group that has “Pride” in its title. So I finally found one Randy and I can relate too. I’m gonna petition the government for a Gray Pride Day. Doubt it will help with that legacy thing though.
Whose with me?
