I heard the shocking news a couple of days ago that one of my best friends from the Air Force died of a heart attack in October.

She was younger than I and much more active. Apparently it was a sudden and completely unexpected death.

Carol was no longer married and had no children. There will be no service according to the post her remaining brother and sister posted on Facebook after they finally got access to her account. I am grateful that she and I, and another good friend who were close in the Air Force had reconnected recently and spent a few hours catching up with each other.

So this post is just to say thanks for the memories, Carol. I will never forget how smart and sarcastic you were, and how much it meant to me that you, Cindy and I were the Broads in Space. But it’s also a reminder to all of us that life is short and unpredictable. Reach out often to those you care about. There’s no need to regret what you didn’t do if you do it.
