Randy and I both had eye doctor appointments last week for the first time in more than three years. Between moving to Florida in 2021, the hurricane in 2022 and all of the rigamarole involved with those two significant life events, getting our eyes examined wasn’t a priority.
My sister Lisa introduced me to Zenni Optical shortly after we moved and then, because my eyeglass prescription was less than a year old, I tried ordering glasses from them. It was a resounding success. They have a fun, on-line “try-on” function on their website so you can see the frames on a photo of yourself you upload to their app.
But, Zenni is in China. I like to support local business when I can and it makes sense.
After I saw the optometrist I sat with the optician to hear their “deals”. I’d told them straight out when I made the original appointment that I needed a prescription (with PD) because I was going to order glasses from Zenni. But I wanted to give them a chance. The optician told me they have frames that start at $70 and my progressive prescription would be $290. That was their “deal”.
The last three pair of progressive eyeglasses, including a pair of prescription sunglasses, I got from Zenni averaged about $70 each.
No brainer.
