Except for knitting and crocheting, I don’t enjoy crafting anymore. But when Kristine showed up with this little box, made out of the bottom of a 2-liter coke bottle, I was immediately enamored. It is so cute, so functional, so versatile. She paid something like 20 bucks for it.
Next time I went to Walmart, I bought 2 2-liter bottles of caffeine-free diet coke. I’m trying to quit soda, but figured it was worth it to get the bottles to see if we could make some boxes of our own.
Kristine and I experimented one afternoon with those coke bottles and a couple of other kinds of plastic soft drink bottles. Only the coke brand bottles work. They have a unique shape and design that make it a breeze to craft these containers. I’ve been collecting napkins and tissue paper in different designs (you use Mod Podge to glue the design to the outside of the plastic bottle) and this week I made 3 more of the little boxes to give away as gifts. Randy even came up with a tiny construction design improvement that make them even easier to make, and are better and more consistent looking in the end. And then he put a battery operated light in one of them and it was adorable.
Let me know if you want the instructions. I’ll be happy to write them down and share them with you.
I’m a happy crafter today!
