Randy and I went out to our favorite restaurant for lunch yesterday. Because this nasty cough is still hanging on going into the third week, we haven’t been anywhere in public together since nearly the beginning of the month. We marveled that Thanksgiving is next week, and the end of 2024 is only a few weeks past that.

For the past few months I’ve been thinking about next year being our 50th wedding anniversary year. I had a crazy thought. We discussed it and both agree we like it enough to see what we could make happen ALL YEAR LONG in 2025 to celebrate not just the anniversary of the day we were married, but the endurance of our entire marriage. I’m not sure anyone, including us, thought the relationship would survive, but here we are.

I am grateful and joyful, amazed and humbled by the life we created and are living together. And that, my friends, is worth more than just a one day recognition. Send us your suggestions! And come celebrate with us!

I’m catching up on all of your posts so this is just a teeny bit late. When you said suggestions and celebrating all your long, it popped in my head that maybe leaving a little note of appreciation when one or the other does something that you appreciate. It doesn’t have to be big just something simple. Maybe a note stating something you admire about the other person now and then throughout the year. After all, it’s the little things that matter.

Good idea. I did something the other night I haven’t done for ages. Just a little thing, but I think it surprised him a lot and I know he appreciated the effort I made. He really is a great husband, and I don’t tell him often enough. You’re right. It’s the LITTLE things that add up and respark the memory of why we chose each other in the first place.
