I’ve written the last few weeks about some fairly weighty topics. I’m done with those for a while now and am ready to turn 68andCounting.com into a travelogue during our Epic 50th Anniversary Grand Adventure Road Trip–E50AGART, for short. We’ve been planning this for months. It’s evolved some since we spent a month in Wisconsin in June. No need to go back there on this leg of the GART. Today is 49 years and 253 days of marriage. You might recall we intend to celebrate every day of this 50th year of (mostly) wedded bliss.
The car is packed (to the gills), fueled up, and we’re on the road to our first destination…our old stomping grounds around the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. We expect to arrive there on Sunday, August 24, spend a few days visiting friends and leave for the next leg on Thursday morning. Lynn and Dave are going with us and I couldn’t be more excited. This morning I scored rooms for each couple for 2 nights in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel on the Strip for $66.89. That’s including taxes, resort fees, AND parking! It might be cheap to sleep in Vegas these days, but we hear everything else is very, very expensive. We’ll let you know.
