My mom’s love language is food. Consequently, I love to eat. Mom loves me and it shows.
I found a meal at a restaurant at the Twisted Fork in Florida that is the best meal I’ve ever eaten anywhere. And that’s saying a lot. I have a favorite restaurant, Buffet City, which I’ve written about before. In fact, we went there at Thanksgiving last year. Here’s that story. But as much as I love that buffet, hands down, the tastiest meal I’ve ever had is Shamalama Smothered Chicken (SSC) . The Twisted Fork is a unique restaurant that’s part of the Harley Davidson complex in Port Charlotte. They also have an incredible outdoor music venue that’s wildly popular with the largely retired population here.
Randy and I both ate SSC for lunch today. While I was savoring it, it occurred to me that telling you about this meal would make a good short post, I wish I’d taken a picture before we dug in. I found this photo of a half eaten serving online. The dish is 2 large blackened chicken breasts, smothered in homemade sweet-creamed corn, apple cider bacon slices, shredded cheese blend, diced tomatoes and chives. Served over garlic smashed red potatoes. It’s a huge amount of food for $16.
We both ate every morsel. If we’d been at home I would have licked my plate.
When you’re here, let’s go eat there!
