About 6 months ago I wrote a post about a book I’d discovered called The Well-Lived Life. Click on its title in the sentence before this and you’ll be taken to that original post.
I recommended rereading the book every 6 months as needed. I couldn’t have been more right, if I do say so myself. Taking my own advice, I am on the third read through of it and just as I expected, I am getting new insights and ah-ha moments I either missed or forgot about since the first two times.
It’s funny how we know what things make life easier but unless we’ve learned them early enough for them to become habits or they’re embedded in our subconscious so they are behaviors we don’t even think about, reminders of best life practices that work to make a life well-lived are eye-opening again and can be stunning over and over again.
I thought about highlighting things in the book that struck me the first few times I read it, but decided not to. If I had, I’m afraid I would give more credence to the highlighted thoughts in subsequent readings. By keeping every concept clean and unbiased, I’m able to allow the most important things at any given time to influence me anew.
If you haven’t read this book before, get a copy and read it now. If you’ve read it before, read it again. I guarantee you’ll be struck by something profound. And your life will better for it.
