Sometimes Friday creeps up awfully fast around here. It’s been a busy week, full of activities. Yesterday one of my cousins and his lovely wife arrived for their first ever visit to any of our homes. Today we’re off to explore Venice, Florida’s downtown.
When we were looking for a house in Florida, I remember one MLS listing from a home in Venice. There were 120 photos uploaded to the listing. Only about half of them were of the house itself. The rest were of the town and area around Venice. Apparently the real estate agent was under the impression that the area was as appealing as the house. We shall see.
The entire Venice City Plan (designed in 1926) is listed in the National Historic Register. They have a very active historical and heritage society that works diligently to preserve the Old Florida charm of their town. With over 100 unique and independently owned stores and restaurants, it should be an interesting place to spend the day today. It looks lovely from the pictures. Then a mid-afternoon lunch at the only restaurant allowed right on the beach anywhere in our area, the wildly popular Sharkey’s on the Venice Pier.
I hope your day is as good as the one I’m expecting. Enjoy!
