I’m addicted to a relatively new, once-a-day, on-line game.
Called Wordle, it’s named after its inventor, a Welsh software engineer named Josh Wardle (convenient, huh?). A player has 6 tries to guess a 5 letter word. Feedback is given to players in the form of color tiles. Green means the correct letter is in the correct position, yellow means the letter is in the word, but in the wrong position. It can be quite challenging and helps keep us retirees, who have little better to do every day, mentally sharper than if we didn’t have to think so hard.
I like that there’s only one puzzle a day so I don’t get obsessed and spend hours playing yet another game on an electronic device. I also like that I’m becoming skilled at thinking about how words are formed. Knowing the language well helps figure out how to solve the puzzles. It’s not as easy as you might think. After all….they’re just 5-letter words.
My friend Michele and I play and send our results to each other. There’s no competition, but it ensures we support and keep in touch daily. I like that days don’t go by with no contact with her.
Give it a try by clicking on the link on the game title above. And let me know what you think.
