My best friend, Lynn (Randy’s sister) and I watched the first Avatar a few days ago to prepare us to see the sequel in 3D this week.

Since it’s been 13 years between Avatar and Avatar 2, and because I’m not a movie buff, I remembered almost nothing of the first movie. The blue alien looking characters on another planet looked familiar, but I’d completely forgotten there were humans in the movie and what the story line was.

Avatar 2 was visually stunning and technologically astonishing. The story though was uninteresting and hard to sit through (for 3 hours, 12 minutes!) for this retired woman. The only mystery of the story, who was Grace’s baby’s father, is never revealed. There was a hell of a lot of blowing things up, crashing, burning, shooting, and sinking.

I didn’t care one whit about any of the characters and their fates when the credits finally, blessedly rolled. If an Avatar 3 comes along, count me out. I would very much be interested in watching anything there is out there about how this movie was made though.
