Do you ever look for signs? Not road signs or street signs. You know, signs from God that something you’re thinking or doing is the right or wrong thing. Things that happen that you take as signs suggesting, confirming, or reinforcing something going on in your life, or showing you that the way you’re going might not be the right way. Randy calls these God Winks.
Over the last couple of weeks, there have been a whole series of unusual and interesting things happening that tie together my interest in the state of the culture, especially as it relates to current events and the political environment in the country. Kind of suddenly and out of the blue I’ve crossed paths with some people, heard about events, had opportunities to get involved in several things that make me think there’s something God wants me to notice right now.
I don’t look for signs all the time, but when unusual and random, but related, things like this happen in a short period of time, I’m smart enough to start connecting the dots to see where they might lead. There just might be something going on I’d better pay attention to. I’m keeping my eyes and ears open, and following those recent dots to see where they take me.
