When we moved to Florida we were told there are actually 2 seasons here, the dry season and the wet season. That truth, and its consequences, aren’t really apparent until you’ve experienced a couple of years of those seasons.

Last rainy season brought Hurricane Ian. We were sick of the rain by November and couldn’t wait for dry season to start. Now, we’re at the end of dry season and holy moley, we are praying daily for the life giving rain to start. It rained for a bit yesterday and Randy and I were delighted with the brief downpour.

I’m so looking forward to rainy season! Rain is so refreshing, so cleansing after a long, hot, dry season. It produces green lawns, a full canal, gorgeous big puffy white clouds, thunder, rainbows!

When we lived on Guam in the late 1970s, we used to joke that when it rained every day, you just kept your wallet in a ziplock bag and went about your business. I’m glad we had that training for rainy season here in Southwest Florida. Now we just need to perfect our rain dance.
