Randy and I arrived home today after being on the road for one day shy of 3 weeks. You know from my previous posts that we have, in the past, really loved road tripping.

Yesterday, after a particularly brutal driving segment of the trip (Franklin, TN to Lake City, FL) Randy said we were going to think about flying in the future.

There were several reasons why yesterday’s drive was so tough, all unavoidable because of last minute plan changes that made that driving day several hours longer than we normally like. The traffic was horrendous and added an additional 90 minutes. For me, I just go with the flow. We had nothing else to do, no one to meet, no timetable to adhere to. That traffic is really starting to bother Randy though. I hated listening to him complain about it, and it makes me sad that he focuses on the bad parts more than he used to. I guess as we age our flexibility lessens and it’s harder to move with and through the annoyances that are inevitable.

Sometimes life is annoying. But dwelling on it serves no purpose other than to invite more annoyance. And I simply refuse to do that. In fact, I’m going to embrace the difficulties to remind me that my life is good 99.9999% of the time. Because it absolutely is. I feel so blessed to have the health and opportunity to still take adventuresome road trips with my beloved husband, even when parts of it stink.
