This is not the place to get into all the deep, dark psychology involved, but what I want to know is why in the world do we tell ourselves all kinds of lies.

We all do it. Sometimes we’re actually dumb enough to believe our own lies. Most of the time there’s no malice intended, but we tell the lie, believe the lie, and then suffer the consequences of the lie.

Right now I’m going to fess up, come clean about one of the biggest and most frequent lies I tell myself, and for which I am constantly paying the price.

The lie is: “I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.” Gol darnit! I swear, I’m trying to learn to make a note about EVERYTHING I need to remember. And I’m learning to make it on my phone in a note taking app, because sure enough, if I write it on a scrap of paper, I’m sure to misplace that dang scrap. I almost always know where my phone is.

What’s one of the most frequent and consequential lies you tell yourself? And what are you going to do to come clean and clean it up?
