I have an Associate’s Degree in Marketing.

It’s been interesting to me, over the years, to watch the language of our culture change to put the best possible spin on the baloney that happens so they can shape and control our opinions and thoughts.

Words I grew up with, like gay, have become so politically charged, you can’t even describe your mother as gay anymore, even though according to Webster, my mother definitely is gay! Thirty years ago the dictionary said gay is bright and lively. Today the on-line dictionaries say that is a DATED definition, and the most prominent definition refers to a person’s sexuality. Baloney.

I don’t think about this much because it is what it is. But putting a new word spin on things made me laugh today when I heard that the SpaceX rocket launched this week experienced “a sudden, rapid disassembly.” What that means, in non-baloney terms, is the dang thing exploded.

You’re welcome. PM me for more language clarification tips.
